Instructions

  1. Make the Crumble Topping: In a medium bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Set aside.
  2. Prepare the Apple Filling: In a large bowl, mix the apple slices with granulated sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Ensure the apples are evenly coated with the mixture.
  3. Make the Cake Batter: Preheat your oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
