Ingredients
Scale
- 4 ripe bananas
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 package (3.4 oz) vanilla instant pudding mix
- 2 cups cold milk
- 1 cup whipped cream (or topping)
- 1 box vanilla wafers
- Caramel sauce for drizzling
Instructions
- Slice two ripe bananas into thick pieces. Melt butter in a large saucepan over medium heat, stir in brown sugar until dissolved, then add banana slices and caramelize for 2-3 minutes. Finish with vanilla extract.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk vanilla pudding mix with cold milk until smooth. Let it sit to thicken, then gently fold in whipped cream until fluffy.
- Layer vanilla wafers followed by the creamy banana pudding mixture and the caramelized banana mixture in a serving dish. Repeat layers, finishing with pudding and garnish with caramelized bananas.
- Arrange sliced bananas and drizzle caramel sauce over the top. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours before serving.
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days; bananas may brown but flavors will remain delicious.
- Serve chilled, topped with extra whipped cream and crushed vanilla wafers.
- Pair with vanilla ice cream for an extra indulgent treat.
