Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (24 ounce) jar marinara sauce
- 1 (12 ounce) package egg noodles
- 1 cup sour cream
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Brown ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add onion and garlic, cooking until beef is browned and onions are translucent. Drain excess grease.
- Cook egg noodles according to package directions. Drain well.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine cooked egg noodles, browned ground beef mixture, marinara sauce, sour cream, 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- Pour the mixture into a 9×13 inch baking dish, spreading evenly.
- Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese over the top.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly, and the casserole is heated through.
- Let it rest for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley, if desired.
Notes
- Don’t overcook the noodles; cook them al dente.
- Use good quality cheddar cheese for best flavor.
- Add chopped bell peppers, mushrooms, or zucchini for added nutrients and flavor.
- Adjust seasoning to your liking.
- For a spicy kick, add red pepper flakes or hot sauce.
- Substitute cream cheese for sour cream for a creamier texture.
- Replace ground beef with lentils or plant-based crumbles for a vegetarian option.
- Experiment with different cheeses such as Monterey Jack or Colby.
