Description

Hit a home run with this Creative and Easy Baseball Cake Recipe! Perfect for beginners, this themed dessert is ideal for birthdays, game days, or a fun weekend activity. Simple steps and readily available ingredients make this cake a guaranteed crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box of your favorite cake mix (plus ingredients called for on the box)
  • 1 container of white frosting
  • Red gel food coloring
  • Round cake pan (9-inch is ideal)
  • Piping bag or a small zip-top bag

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to the temperature specified on the cake mix box.
  2. Grease and flour your round cake pan to prevent the cake from sticking.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, eggs, oil, and water (or other liquids) as directed on the box.
  4. Mix well until the batter is smooth and lump-free.
  5. Pour the cake batter into your prepared round cake pan.
  6. Bake for the time specified on the cake mix box, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before inverting it onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. Place the cooled cake on a serving plate or cake stand.
  9. Using a spatula, evenly spread the white frosting over the entire cake. Make sure the frosting is smooth and covers the entire surface.
  10. In a small bowl, mix a portion of the white frosting with red gel food coloring until you achieve a vibrant red color.
  11. Fill a piping bag or a small zip-top bag with the red frosting. If using a zip-top bag, snip off a tiny corner.
  12. Pipe curved lines on the cake to mimic the stitching on a baseball. Start from the center and work your way outwards, creating a pattern that resembles the seams of a baseball.

Notes

  • Make sure your cake is completely cooled before frosting to prevent the frosting from melting.
  • Use a smooth, consistent motion when frosting the cake to achieve an even surface.
  • If you don’t have red gel food coloring, you can use red frosting instead.
  • For added flair, consider adding a baseball-themed cake topper or sprinkles.
