Ingredients
Scale
- 1 loaf of Italian or French bread
- 2 cooked chicken breasts, shredded
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or your favorite cheese)
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup chopped green onions
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- Optional: red pepper flakes for a bit of heat
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, combine the shredded chicken, mayonnaise, green onions, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, and black pepper. Mix well. Add red pepper flakes if desired.
- Preheat oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C). Slice the bread lengthwise, being careful not to cut all the way through, creating a boat. Remove some bread from the center.
- Spoon the chicken mixture into the bread cavity, spreading evenly.
- Top with shredded cheddar cheese, ensuring it covers the entire surface.
- Place the filled bread on a baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the bread is golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Use a good quality bread for the best results.
- Donβt overfill the bread to prevent it from becoming soggy.
- Adjust seasonings to your preference.
- Use pre-cooked or rotisserie chicken to save time.
- Add chopped vegetables like bell peppers or onions for added flavor.
