- ½ cup water

- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups mini marshmallows
- 1 cup chopped pecans (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
- Melt butter with water and cocoa powder in a saucepan until smooth.
- Pour butter-cocoa mixture into dry ingredients. Add buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla, mixing until smooth. Fold in pecans if using.
- Pour batter into greased 9×13-inch pan. Bake 30-35 minutes until toothpick comes out clean.
- Sprinkle marshmallows on hot cake and return to oven for 2-3 minutes to soften.
- Prepare frosting by melting butter with cocoa and milk. Whisk in powdered sugar and vanilla, then pour over marshmallow layer.
- Let set before serving.
