Description
Rotel Cream Cheese Sausage Balls are a savory, cheesy, and spicy appetizer perfect for parties, potlucks, or a tasty snack. This easy recipe combines ground sausage, cream cheese, Rotel diced tomatoes and green chilies, and cheddar cheese for a crowd-pleasing dish.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground sausage (regular or hot)
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1 (10 ounce) can Rotel diced tomatoes and green chilies, undrained
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup self-rising flour (optional, for a firmer texture)
Instructions
- Gather all ingredients. Ensure the cream cheese is softened.
- In a large bowl, combine the ground sausage and softened cream cheese until well combined.
- Add the undrained Rotel diced tomatoes and green chilies. Then, add in the shredded cheddar cheese. Mix thoroughly. If using flour, gently fold in.
- Preheat oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll the mixture into 1-inch balls and place on the baking sheet.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Use softened cream cheese for easier mixing.
- Donβt drain the Rotel β the moisture keeps the balls tender.
- Adjust the amount of Rotel or add a pinch of cayenne pepper for extra spice.
- If the mixture is too wet, add a little more cheese or flour; chilling the mixture for 30 minutes before rolling into balls can also help with the consistency.
- For even baking, make sure all the balls are roughly the same size.
- Serve with your favorite dipping sauce, like ranch or honey mustard.
