Ingredients
Scale
- 6 large pieces of bread (white or whole wheat)
- 6 cooked sausage links
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Cinnamon and powdered sugar for garnish
- Butter for frying
- Maple syrup for serving
Instructions
- Start by cooking the sausage links if they are not pre-cooked. Prepare to enjoy your meal alongside scrambled eggs.
- Flatten each slice of bread with a rolling pin and wrap around a sausage link tightly.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk eggs, milk, and vanilla extract. Dip each sausage roll in the mixture.
- Melt butter in a skillet, then cook the roll-ups seam-side down until golden brown on all sides, about 2-3 minutes per side.
Notes
- Leftover roll-ups can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- To serve, dust with powdered sugar and drizzle with maple syrup, pairing with fresh fruit for a complete breakfast.
- Substitute sausage with bacon or ham for variations, and thicker bread like Texas toast or brioche works best.
