- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
Instructions
- Activate the Yeast: In a large mixing bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- Make the Dough: Add olive oil and salt to the yeast mixture. Gradually add bread flour, mixing until a shaggy dough forms. Knead for 6-8 minutes with a mixer or 10-12 minutes by hand until smooth and elastic.
- Let the Dough Rise: Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, turning to coat. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Shape and Bake: Preheat oven to 400Β°F (200Β°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Divide the dough into 4 equal pieces and shape into long loaves. Let rest for 20 minutes. Slash the tops diagonally. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
